Venice Waterfront
The Port Authority of the Upper Adriatic has announced a competition for the drafting of a technical-economic feasibility project for the redevelopment
of the port areas of Marittima and S. Basilio in Venice and the Saloni area in Chioggia.
The theme is fascinating, especially for Venice, given the scale of the project and the strategic location of the Marittima and S. Basilio areas, acting as a link between the western portion of the historic center and the central and eastern portions, where thousands of tourists converge daily.
First-generation port areas, as seen in cities like London, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Stockholm, and so on, always present an opportunity not to be missed for infusing new energy, new activities, and new functions just a few dozen meters from the city center.
It’s a challenging but inevitable bet to make.
