Light Pavillion on Garda Lake
A volume of canvas that is reflected on Lake Garda
A building with low architectural value was born as if by chance on a formidable site a few hundred metres from the historic centre, along the shore of the lake, in a corner of the gulf overlooking Riva del Garda.
It houses an ice cream shop that overlooks the body of water with a small terrace without shelter from the wind, from the “hour of Lake Garda”, which blows daily towards the mountain slopes. The Plan of the Fascia Lago provides its demolition and reconstruction with different seats. It is an interesting opportunity to offer residents and tourists a place of welcome between the water of the lake and the park near the Hotel Lido Palace.
We therefore propose to reorganize the existing floor plan on two floors, lining it with a movable and semi-transparent leather canvas that makes the building impalpable and immaterial, as happens to sailing boats, the only boats that can navigate this portion of Lake Garda.
The canvas skin gives a glimpse from the outside of the surrounding trees and palm trees, some of which are enclosed inside the building, so that buildings and park become a single entity.
On the ground floor the existing terrace allows you to reach new floating platforms with tables and chairs surrounded by water.
